DESCRIPTION:Grasslands with a high proportion of legumes allow for an increase in locally produced protein and reduce dependence on imported protein feeds. However, higher protein content alone does not guarantee better feed—the decisive factors are how the crop grows, the condition in which it reaches the silo, and what occurs during the fermentation process.     The innovation project "One Health" takes a holistic look at the production chain for the first time, from soil and plants to silage, animals, milk, and cheese. At the heart of the project is the question of how grassland composition, plant growth conditions and stress, ensiling, and microbiological processes are interconnected, and how a problem arising in one production stage carries over to the next.
