Panel Discussion: From Farm to Consumer — The Sales Journey and Branding for New Producers

Come and listen to a practical discussion on how a small producer can reach consumers through social media, direct sales, and a strong brand, grow into retail chains, and make the right choices both before and after securing their first shelf space.

Programme

A good product does not sell itself. On stage are two producers who have built their own brands on social media, sell directly to consumers, and have also reached retail chains. We will discuss what social media truly offers a small producer, how direct sales and retail chains work side by side, and what changes once the first shelf space is secured. A retail chain representative will explain what is actually considered during a purchasing decision and how much weight a brand carries alongside the product. A branding expert will explain what makes a small producer’s brand strong enough to sustain both direct sales and retail trade. Each speaker will provide specific tips on where a starting producer should begin and what to avoid.

The panel includes two producers from the agricultural sector who market and sell their own products, a retail chain representative, and an expert in branding and marketing.

The panel is moderated by Marju Reitsak, a member of the Estonian Young Farmers’ Union and senior editor of Maaleht’s rural economy and Targu Talita sections.
